Last Home Meet Tuesday- Key Information and Reminders
Team,
I can’t believe our summer swim season is almost over already! It has flown by so fast. Although we’ve had a couple of home meets, I wanted to send this email with all the important details to help us finish the season strong with smooth, fun, and successful meets! I apologize for length, but contains lots of good info!
Swim Meet Details
- Arrival Time: Please arrive by 4:45 PM at our home pool. This is our last home meet of the season!
Housekeeping
- No people on the tennis courts during the meet.
- Please encourage your kids to help keep facilities, bathrooms, and the area clean.
- We need everyone’s help with post-meet cleanup — especially around your parking lot spot, moving in tables and getting our pool deck set up.
- Stay off the deck unless you’re volunteering, coordinating, or have a swimmer coming up soon. This helps keep things moving quickly and safely.
- This is a smaller team and we hope it moves a little faster and fingers crossed for NO RAIN!
Volunteers
We still have around 17 open positions! Every family with a swimmer must volunteer for at least one shift (this is standard swim team policy).
If you haven’t signed up your swimmer or picked a job yet, please do so right away.
- Lots of second-shift opportunities are available if your schedule is tricky.
- If you have signed up your swimmer and not signed up for a job please go in and pick a job.
- Showing up day-of is appreciated, but signing up in advance makes the meet run so much better.
- Many hands make light work — especially for our final home meet!
Volunteering Procedures
- All volunteers (any shift): Check in with Karen at the first table on the right as soon as you arrive.
- Mandatory officials’ meeting: 5:45–5:50 PM by the lifeguard stand (this is Cobb County policy). Timers, place judges, scorer, starter, and announcer need to attend this meeting.
- Meet starts promptly at 6:00 PM.
- Shift one ends at event 46- shift two starts at 47. Do not leave your post until relief arrives.
Thank you so much to everyone who has volunteered this season — we truly appreciate you!
Huge appreciation for all of those who powered through last week’s rainy meet!
and stayed to clean!
CONCESSIONS

- Please support concessions as much as you can! It’s one of the best ways to fund team improvements year after year. Come hungry and enjoy the yummy food while cheering on the Sharks!
- We would love to SELL OUT because this is the last home meet. Help us do it!!!
- Many great options (even healthy ones!)
During the Meet
Coach will be on deck observing each swimmer to help them improve in upcoming practices. Assistant coaches will assist with race setup and reminders. Please give them space to focus on supporting the kids.
- Have fun and do your best! Cheer enthusiastically and encourage all the swimmers.
- Younger swimmers: Stay with your age group bullpen parents and kids.
- Food & Allergies: Be mindful of allergies in your group — no sharing food. Have epi-pens ready and inform the coach if needed.
- Relays: Please don’t cancel last-minute. Notify the coach immediately if you can’t stay. One missing swimmer means the whole relay forfeits.

- Rain Delays: Watch for SwimTopia alerts (click the bell icon). We’ll communicate as quickly as possible. Please do not leave unless the meet is fully cancelled. No one likes the rain delays, but it’s a great opportunity to teach kids about supporting our team! At an away meet, wait in your car.
- DQs: Disqualifications are learning opportunities (officials tend to get stricter later in the season). Coaches will review them in practice — stay positive and proud!
- Sportsmanship: Swimmers should stay in the water until all racers finish the race. Congratulate swimmers from every team. Some officials would like younger swimmers to go ahead and get out if they are not great at getting out of the pool.
- The meet should wrap up between 10–11 PM. Please stay until the end to cheer on all our Sharks if possible (let the coach know if you need to leave early).
What to Bring
- Swimsuit, cap, goggles (extra pair recommended!), team t-shirt, towels (quick-dry is great), and a warm layer for when it gets dark/chilly
- Games, books, or cards for downtime (BeyBlades were a hit in our family!). Electronics not recommended.
- Print your own heat sheet (available a couple hours before the meet — no extras at the pool).
- Mark up your swimmer! Instructions below my signature
Spirit Night Reminder
Don’t miss Righteous ’Que Spirit Night on June 22nd from 3:00–9:00 PM at 1050 East Piedmont (in the Publix shopping center across from the YMCA). Mention the Sharks so a portion of the proceeds supports our team!
Swim-A-Thon
Great job to all our swimmers who competed! This was an inner-team competition again this year. We’ll share the full results and celebrate everyone at our end-of-season party.
Summer swim is about community and fostering an early love for the sport that we hope creates fond memories for our entire community. We hope we are accomplishing that task for you so far this year and we hope to continue to improve as we learn and grow!Coaches will see you all on Monday and I’ll See you all on Tuesday! Let’s make this last home meet a great one.
GO SHARKS!!!
